Wedding PlacecardPlanning for your wedding requires a great deal of time and energy. Even if you are hoping for a small and intimate affair, you need to be on top of the various tasks associated with planning for your big day. While you and your partner might already be stressed enough when thinking about all of the responsibilities on your plate before you actually walk down the aisle, there is a lot to be said for taking time to slow things down. When you are able to look at the details of your wedding close-up, it may make a difference.

Often, the details of a wedding can drive a bride or groom somewhat insane. When going over some of the finer points of your wedding, be sure to not spend too much time lost in the specifics. Details are important but there is good reason that the idiom “the devil’s in the details” exists. Take a look at a few of these ways to enhance the details of your wedding and see what you can accomplish without driving yourself to the brink.

In Print

During the preparation stage of a wedding, you most likely have spent a lot of time thinking over paper and cardstock in relation to your invitations. It is good to think about these details but it is equally as important for you to think over the other parts of your wedding where paper might be involved. At the venue itself, items like the menus and placecards will all be made of some kind of cardstock as well. If you want to make sure that your wedding is tied together aesthetically, it can be a good idea to think over details.

If you truly want to make your wedding feel whole, consider using the same or similar cardstock for the menus as you did your invitations. All of your guests might not remember what your invitations looked like but those who do recall the appearance will recognize that you have gone above and beyond to make sure everything goes together in a visual way. You may also want to use the same material for placement cards if you really want to make sure everything looks the same.

Additional Guests

Another important detail to keep in mind throughout the process of planning is the guest list. People reply to wedding invitations differently. While most people are going to send your RSVP cards back by the date listed, you need to take into consideration the fact that some people will not respond that they are coming at all. This happens and you need to be ready for it. A great rule of thumb to keep in mind is roughly five more people will always be present at your wedding than responded to your invitations.

The exact number of additional guests you experience may vary but it is wise to take this into account beforehand. Accommodating everyone at your wedding is easy when you keep a couple of seats open and make sure that you order a handful of extra meals for the reception. Doing this will cover all of your bases and allow you room to breathe when you notice that more people have arrived than you anticipated.

Fixing the Venue

Finally, you may want to think over the way your venue is arranged. You selected this specific destination for a good reason and you want to make sure that you remember this. Still, all venues could use a bit of improvement. If, for example, you happen to notice a rug you strongly dislike sitting in the middle of the room, you may want to ask the representative of the space to have it removed for the reception.

When planning for a wedding, be sure to think about the details. Try to remain calm during the process and you may see some wonderful results from your adjustments.
