A Groom Getting Ready for His WeddingMen have it a bit easier than women when it comes to selecting a wedding day outfit. More often than not, a groom will wear a tux or tailored suit and the guests will clamor to say how handsome he looks “all cleaned up.” Though the bar might be set a bit lower for men, it doesn’t mean you can’t take a few extra steps to look your absolute best! More often than not, all it takes is a few simple adjustments to go from “all cleaned up” to “incredibly polished.”

Give yourself a moment to look over some of these helpful style tips for men. See if any of these ideas work for you and get ready to look better than you thought possible for your big day.

No Need to Spend a Fortune

There is a very popular misconception that looking your best requires a ton of available money. While it is true extra money can help you pay for more advanced services, you don’t need to drop a small fortune on your wedding day look. In fact, you may want to hold onto some of your wedding budget for more important expenses like your honeymoon. This means it can be helpful to explore some alternatives to buying your tuxedo or suit outright.

Though it was not always viewed as the most sensible move for a groom to make, nowadays it is much more common for a man to rent his wedding tux. Unlike a dress, a tux is less likely to be passed on from one generation to the next, and, in most cases, a groom will only get to wear it once. By renting, you could save hundreds of dollars and still look as sharp as you’d like.

This Isn’t Prom

For a large number of men, the last major event they had to dress up for before their own wedding was prom. Unfortunately, this means a large chunk of the male population associates what he should look like with what he wore on prom night. Though this misconception is quite common, it is also one that men need to shake from their systems. Prom looks are for young boys who don’t know how to dress.  Grown men need to step up their games a bit to look as fantastic as their future spouses.

One “prom night rule” men can stand to lose is the idea that the bow tie is the only acceptable neckwear for a man in a tux. Sure, it might have worked in high school, but you’re likely a long ways past that period in your life. Experiment with all kinds of ties of varying lengths and widths to uncover the ideal piece. It might not seem like much, but a tie can easily pull together an entire look and help you appear incredibly handsome and worthy of your partner.

Color Coordination

Old fashion rules tend to linger longer than they need to.  For men, there is an old mindset of not being able to mix colors like black and brown. These old style preferences do not need to be adhered to. In fact, a nice set of brown shoes might look ideal with your black tux. Go with what you think works best and don’t spend too much time thinking about what fashion experts have to say.

A groom does not need to go to extreme lengths to look his best on his wedding day. Though brides tend to obsess over this aspect a bit more, men can stand to learn a few simple lessons about their appearances. By breaking free of a few misconceptions and putting forth the right initiative, you may be able to look like a million dollars without needing to spend much in the process!
