Kathryn E Rose
Ordained Minister in Akron, Ohio
About Me:
I became an ordained minister with Universal Life Church (ULC) in 2019. I have devoted my life to the profession of nursing but also have a strong spiritual, religious, creative, and philosophical background. Each day of my life is an effort to let God guide my hand in everything that I do. Love is my grand compass.
I am a registered member of the Metaphysical Society of America, where religious and philosophical scholars participate in continuing education and problem-solving discussions.
I am studying and interested in mystical Christian and Gnostic (Cathar) poetry, texts, literature from the 13th century onward. I am currently illustrating a book of poetry inspired by the mystical visions and experiences of figures like William Blake, Saint Teresa of Avila, Saint Therese of Lisieux, Angela of Foligno, Marguerite Porete, Hildegard of Bingen, Jakob Böhme, Jane Leade, St Joseph of Cupertino, and many others. I want to synthesize the personal visions & experiences of historical Christian mystics in both ecclesiastic and secular settings to form a sort of cohesive, numinous mythical narrative. In whatever vocation one chooses in life, it first should act as a lantern illuminating the path to God, a path that is desperately obscured in these modern times.
In my free time, I enjoy studying Gnosticism, Valentinian Christianity, Manichaeism, Anthroposophy, Catharism, Natural Law, the 10th century Bogomils, Ludwig Klages and his Cosmogonic Eros, Arthurian grail legends, Celtic myths, William Blake. I could go on and on! I have a keen interest in rare/antiquarian spiritual & philosophical texts and ephemera.
I can offer resources to people such as recommended spiritual, historical, religious, & philosophical dialogue, guidance, and reading recommendations. I can also offer more utilitarian services such as wedding officiating, personal prayer and blessing services, letters of good standing, religious exemptions.
“And now the enlightened soul, feeling the malady so great and so powerful, looks out diligently for a speedy relief, and is ready to embrace every physician that professes to be skillful in the curing of souls. Here comes in a second danger, at which you will do well to take heed: that is, to be cautioned from whom you receive spiritual medicine, and whether they are such that have the true Balsam and Tincture of Life, to give forth from the very Unction of God resting in them; for no other can be profitable to you. All who have not this sovereign White Stone, which knows only how to pour out His Name as precious ointment, from vessel to vessel, are physi- cians of no value. Therefore while you are in the state of minority, and have need to be under pastors and teachers, till you are come up to the highest form, ready prepared and qualified for the great Master-Teacher to undertake you, even the Holy Spirit (who will perfect whatever was lacking in other teachings, and through other mediums); for this direct your eye, waiting in a peaceable concord and silent harmony in your own Jerusalem within: whereupon is to be written Holiness to the Lord in every property. Then you will come to know the fresh Pasture-springs, which are only under the breaking-up-Seal of the Holy Unction, where no defiled foot has ever come to raise the dust, or to discolor this Golden Stream.” -Jane Lead, 17th century Christian Mystic
