Six Ways to Make Your Wedding Ceremony SpecialYour wedding day is one of the most important days of your life. While it's only one day, it represents such a significant event that it's something you will remember for a lifetime. That's probably why so much time, planning, and money goes into the wedding and reception. The average wedding takes a year to plan. You have to book a venue, find a caterer, and figure out the details for your reception. If you have been to several weddings, you may have noticed that many of them are remarkably similar. It seems that most people put their energy into making their reception different. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but maybe you want the wedding ceremony itself to stand out. If this is something that appeals to you, then here are some of the ways you can make your wedding ceremony something you and your guests always remember.

Cocktail Party

You might consider having a brief cocktail party before your wedding. Having a drink helps relax everyone, and it may give people who haven't seen each other for a long time a chance to catch up. It can also give your guests an opportunity to meet each other if they've never met before. An additional bonus is you don't have to worry about anyone being late to the wedding ceremony itself.

Create a Different Program

If you have a themed wedding, then your program should reflect that. It's a great way to help make your wedding more unique and individual. For example, if you are having your wedding in an old movie theater, you might consider making a program that looks like a movie poster. The more you stick with a particular theme, the more memorable it will be.

Give a Tour

Consider having a room your guests can visit before they are seated in the ceremony. It can be like a tour of your relationship. You might include photos or souvenirs of some of your most important relationship memories, such as:

  • Your first date
  • Your first kiss
  • Where the two of you got engaged

If you are getting married in a building with a lot of history, you might consider leaving some information on that as well. Additionally, you can include things about the city or even about your heritage.

Slide Show **

It's pretty common for couples to show slide shows with photos of their relationship. You might consider having this play on the screen while your guests are waiting for your ceremony to start. This gives them something to do while they are waiting. It also gives those who are not able to attend your rehearsal dinner a chance to see it as well.

Use a Unique Wedding Song

There are some songs that are just made to be wedding songs. The lyrics are so fitting for nearly any couple, and they are a perfect representation of many relationships. However, perhaps there is a song that the two of you love that may not be considered a wedding song. Play it anyway. After all, it's your wedding, and there's really no such thing as a right or wrong wedding song. It will give your guests yet another way to remember your wedding ceremony.

Cute Wedding Party

Many people have flower girls, candle lighters, and ring bearers in their wedding. These members of the wedding party are typically children. Use their cuteness to your advantage! Kids often do things and cause things to not go according to plan. Guests love seeing a ring bearer get a little sidetracked while walking down the aisle or a flower girl run down the aisle to hug her favorite uncle (the groom).

These are all relatively simple but fun ways you can make your wedding ceremony stand out. Don't be afraid to be different if you want to make your wedding more memorable.
