If you want your wedding day to be extra special and memorable, you may want to consider a destination wedding. You, your family, and your friends can travel to another country for a vacation, and while you’re there, you and your spouse-to-be can tie the knot in a unique and exotic setting. Here are four of the best destination wedding venues.
Castello Brown in Portofino, Italy
Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker were married in Portofino in May 2022. The Castello was built in the Middle Ages by the Genoese to defend the Gulf of Portofino. Its name comes from Montague Yeats Brown, the English consul to Genoa, who owned the building from 1867 to 1905.
After the Castello changed hands a few times, the Municipality of Portofino purchased the building in 1961 to use as a tourist destination. Renting Castello Brown in April through September can cost as much as $6,000, with catering and use of the kitchen adding another $1,000. Same-sex marriage is not yet legal in Italy, though civil unions are permitted.
Caerula Mar Club on South Andros, Bahamas
Cindy Crawford, Penelope Cruz, and Mariah Carey have all held weddings at the Caerula Mar Club. The Club offers a variety of wedding packages in a stunning beachside resort location. There’s room for you and up to 60 guests. You, your spouse-to-be, and your guests have to stay at the Club for five nights to hold your wedding there.
You must arrive in the Bahamas at least 24 hours before you apply for your marriage license. The Club advises that you arrive 48 hours in advance to be on the safe side. Unfortunately, same-sex marriage is not legal in the Bahamas, but the Club offers same-sex ceremonies that are not legally binding. Costs start at $2,500, and you can add floral, décor, food, spa, and music choices to any wedding package.
Hotel Rangá in Iceland
Actors Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson and Bam Margera were both married in the land of fire and ice. Hotel Rangá offers wedding sites at a country church with stained glass windows, a candlelit cave, a snowy glacier with views of the coast, a black sand beach, a volcano, and a field of purple lupine in front of a waterfall.
The hotel offers four wedding packages with a variety of services included, running from $5,600 to $10,500. Flowers, decor, wedding cake, photography, and more can be arranged through the Hotel Rangá. Some are included in the package price, while others are set up through preferred vendors. Same-sex marriage is legal in Iceland.
Franschhoek Venues in Franschhoek, South Africa
Franschhoek is a town in the Western Cape, well known for vineyards that date back centuries and Cape Dutch architecture. Franschhoek Venues has 15 beautiful locations to host your wedding, from the Courchevel Barn and the Franschhoek Beer Co. to the Rickety Bridge Winery, the Franschhoek Huguenot Memorial Monument, and the Farm Sanctuary South Africa.
Some of the available venues are well suited for more intimate ceremonies with no more than 20 or 30 guests. Other venues can accommodate 300 to 400 guests. Some venues include catering, spa services, makeup artists, hairdressers, and a pool. Prices aren’t listed on the website, so you need to contact Franschhoek Venues for that information. Same-sex marriage is legal in South Africa.

Whether you want a large, lavish ceremony with all the amenities or a small, intimate service with only your closest friends and relatives, there are places all over the globe to fit your nuptial needs.
