After all of the planning, the big day has almost come. You are now just one week away from one of the biggest days of your lives. Hopefully, things have gone smoothly until this point and most things have been figured out. Still, during the last week before the wedding, there is plenty to do. Having a checklist of some of the things to remember can be helpful since you are likely feeling frazzled and perhaps a little bit stressed. Here are a few of the things you should remember to do in the week leading up to your wedding day.
Confirm Appointments
Hopefully, you have already made your appointments for hair, makeup, and manicures. Since it may have been a while since the appointments were scheduled, it's not a bad idea to call and confirm them. This can help make sure everything is lined up and scheduled properly for your big day. Also double check with your bridesmaids and make sure they have all of the appointment dates, times, and locations written down so that you don't have to worry about anyone forgetting to show up.
Break in Your Wedding Shoes
Some women choose to get married barefoot, but if you have a nice pair of wedding shoes, now's a great time to break them in. Getting used to wearing them before your wedding will likely make you more comfortable on the actual day. While you should be careful not to scuff them or mess them up in any way, walking around in them and perhaps even dancing in them can help break them in a little and help your feet get used to them. You may also find out that the shoes you are planning on wearing are not going to work for dancing, or that you can't be on your feet for too long before your back starts hurting. Figuring this out beforehand can help prevent last-minute wedding stress.
Pick Up Suit and Dress
The bride should bring home her wedding dress the final week, and the groom should bring home his suit. Before you leave, try it on one more time. If there are any last-minute alterations that need to be done, this is the time to do them. Bring the items home and put them in a safe place while you wait for your wedding day to approach.
Figure Out Your Payments
If you haven't already, get all the payments figured out for everyone you hired for your wedding. This can include the caterer, wedding photographer, and DJ. Consider dividing up the money into envelopes and asking someone you trust to distribute the money when it's time. Don't forget to include a tip if you were happy with their services.
Pack for Your Honeymoon
Now's the time to pack for your honeymoon as well. Going somewhere tropical? Don't forget to pack your swimsuit, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Planning a ski trip in the mountains? Make sure you have the weather-appropriate clothing. Packing now instead of later will help you be more prepared and less likely to forget something.
Wedding Day Emergency Kit
You probably know that at many weddings, there is at least one emergency. Most of the time, these are minor things that are easily fixed if you are prepared. Consider having an "emergency kit" ready for your wedding day. This might include things like:
- a needle and thread
- Band-Aids
- on-the-go stain remover
- extra hair clips
These are just a few of the last-minute things you should do before your wedding day. Take care of them now to prevent stress later. When you can, ask for help from your wedding party and other trusted friends and family to prevent all of the stress from being on just your shoulders.
