Wendy Britt-Walker
Ordained Minister in Baytown, Texas
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became an ordained minister because I believe in the power of inclusion, and I truly feel that every couple deserves a ceremony written just for them—one that celebrates their unique love story. I do not have a plug-and-play formula; each and every ceremony is crafted to reflect the couple’s personalities, vision, and journey. Getting to know my couples and sharing their journey in front of their loved ones brings me so much joy. The process of writing a personalized ceremony, honoring the significance of love, connecting with others, and even the experience of "performing" during the ceremony is deeply satisfying and rewarding for me.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in good ol’ Baytown, Texas. My father was a collage American History teacher, my mother a woman of great independent spirit. Through them I learned the values of loving people where they are at, adventure, and even romance. I’ve also lived in Houston, Yellowstone National Park, Las Vegas, and Minnesota.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
As a wedding minister, I hope to create meaningful, personalized ceremonies that reflect the unique love of each couple. I see this role as a creative outlet where I can bring fresh ideas to life while honoring the love of all kinds—whether it's a traditional union or a nontraditional celebration. I am committed to inclusivity, ensuring that each ceremony respects and embraces all spiritual or non-spiritual beliefs and diverse lifestyle visions. Meeting people from all walks of life and being part of their special day is truly fulfilling. My goal is to craft ceremonies that not only celebrate love, but also connects families and friends, creating lasting memories for everyone involved.

What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Baytown, TX wedding officiant?
I do not use pre-scripted ceremonies, where you simply fill in the blanks like you were playing Mad Libs. I take the time to get to know my couples. I do use questionnaires as a sort of ice breaker, but then we go a little deeper in conversation. We may speak on the phone, do a Zoom call, or even meet in person! I will then craft a ceremony that reflects who YOU are as a couple. I am open to just about anything you’d like to include in your celebration, from sand pouring, hand fasting, ring blessing, to more unique, non-traditional things like spell jars. I love the idea of signing the marriage license as a part of the actual ceremony!
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
