Ashley Marie Meredith
Ordained Minister in Vinton, Iowa
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I chose to become ordained through the Universal Life Church (ULC) because I believe in supporting and uplifting others during some of life’s most profound moments. The ULC’s core values of inclusivity, freedom of belief, and accessibility align closely with my own principles. Their approach allows people from all walks of life to officiate ceremonies and provide spiritual support without discrimination or bureaucratic barriers.
For me, becoming ordained is not about adhering to a specific doctrine or tradition—it’s about fostering connections and offering kindness and guidance. Whether it’s officiating weddings, providing comfort in times of grief, or simply being a resource for those in need, my ordination is an extension of my dedication to serving my community.
Having experienced challenges and triumphs in my own life, I understand how meaningful it is to have someone supportive and compassionate by your side. My ordination through the ULC is one more way I can give back, honor diverse beliefs, and promote peace and understanding.

What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
With my online ordination, I hope to create a meaningful impact by being a source of support and guidance during significant moments in people’s lives. I have performed many various ceremonies over the years, so I sought ordination to make it official! My goal is to offer inclusivity and compassion, ensuring that everyone—regardless of their beliefs or background—feels honored and respected in their personal milestones, such as weddings, funerals, or other ceremonies.
I also hope to use my ordination as a platform to advocate for love, peace, and unity, fostering a deeper sense of connection in the communities I serve. For me, this ordination is an opportunity to blend my passion for service with a commitment to uplifting others, offering a safe and welcoming presence to those who may feel marginalized or unheard.
Ultimately, I hope to inspire others to embrace their individuality and find joy and meaning in their spiritual or personal journeys, knowing that they have someone they can trust to support them along the way.

Additional Information
I was baptized Catholic, and my early experiences instilled in me a foundation of faith and spirituality. However, after experiencing profound personal losses, I began a deeply personal spiritual journey. Along the way, I explored many belief systems, seeking meaning and understanding in the face of life’s complexities.
Through this exploration, I came to believe that all spiritual paths hold truth, much like the Blind Men and the Elephant parable from Ramakrishna. Each tradition offers a perspective that contributes to a greater, unified whole. This realization led me to embrace inclusivity and the idea that spirituality is a deeply individual experience.
Eventually, I found my spiritual home in Christian Gnosticism, which resonates with my belief in the pursuit of inner wisdom, the connection to the divine within, and the importance of personal spiritual growth. This journey has shaped my approach as a minister, allowing me to honor and respect diverse traditions while remaining grounded in my own faith.
I have experience with various ceremonial rites in several denominations.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Vinton, IA wedding officiant?
My ceremonies as a wedding officiant are special because I focus on creating a deeply personal and meaningful experience that reflects the unique love story of each couple. I believe every ceremony should be as one-of-a-kind as the people it celebrates, so I take the time to listen, understand, and craft a ceremony that aligns with the couple’s values, beliefs, and vision for their special day.
What sets my approach apart is my ability to combine heartfelt storytelling with a sense of authenticity and warmth. I strive to create an atmosphere where everyone present feels connected to the couple’s journey and inspired by the celebration of their love.
Additionally, my diverse life experiences and open-mindedness allow me to officiate ceremonies that are inclusive, nontraditional, or spiritual in a way that feels true to the couple. Whether it’s a simple, intimate gathering or a large celebration, my goal is to ensure the couple feels supported and celebrated in a way that resonates with them and their loved ones.
