Adrianne Brown-Johnson
Ordained Minister in Lynchburg, Virginia
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I chose to become ordained online as a Baptist for both practical and personal reasons. I wanted the ability to officiate weddings for close friends and family without going through the lengthy process of formal seminary training. Online ordination provided a convenient and accessible way to legally perform these ceremonies. As a Baptist, I also value the idea of the "priesthood of all believers," which emphasizes that each Christian has the ability to serve and minister without needing official clergy recognition. This path allowed me to follow my personal calling while keeping the flexibility and autonomy that aligns with my beliefs.

What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
With my online ordination, I hope to achieve several meaningful goals. First, I want to be able to officiate weddings and other important ceremonies for friends and family, offering them a personal and heartfelt experience. Beyond that, I see it as an opportunity to provide spiritual support and guidance to those around me, whether it’s during life’s joyful moments or more challenging times. Ultimately, I hope to make a positive impact by serving in a way that aligns with my beliefs, while maintaining the flexibility and autonomy to minister when and where I’m needed.

In terms of my religious affiliations, I would say that I align closely with Baptist beliefs, particularly the emphasis on the "priesthood of all believers," which underscores the idea that every individual has the ability to serve and minister without needing formal clergy recognition. I appreciate the autonomy and personal responsibility this perspective encourages, allowing for a more direct and personal relationship with faith. That said, I also value openness and inclusivity in my approach, and I’m always respectful of different beliefs and traditions. My focus is on creating a welcoming environment for everyone, no matter their background or spiritual journey.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Lynchburg, VA wedding officiant?
As a wedding officiant, I believe what makes my ceremonies special is the personal touch I bring to each one. I take the time to truly get to know the couple, their unique love story, and what matters most to them. This allows me to craft a ceremony that reflects their personalities, values, and journey together. I strive to create a meaningful and memorable experience, blending heartfelt moments with a bit of humor and warmth, so the ceremony feels authentic to the couple. My goal is to make the couple and their guests feel deeply connected to the occasion, making it a day to remember for everyone involved.
