Dr. Timothy L. Hayes
Ordained Minister in Commerce, Georgia
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
To not only minister to friends and family, but to others and fellow disabled veterans like myself dealing with PTSD. But to also be able to marry individuals including those in same sex relationships. I wanted to go to seminary but none would take me due to me being a gay man.
Where are you from?
I was born In GA where I spent most of my younger years but my middle school and high school years were spent in Monks Corner SC. I finished High School in Southaven MS which is where I joined the Military at age 17.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
I have achieved what I sought after when getting my ordination with ULC. I minister to those in need of guidance, who are struggling with addiction, mental issues or life in general. My ordination was one of the best things to happen to me in life. It gives my words of wisdom, hope and faith more weight in the eyes of others.

My Statement of Faith and Identity While I align my life with the teachings of our Lord Jesus Christ and walk in His path, I have reached a point where I no longer call myself a "Christian." This is a deeply personal decision born from witnessing how the faith has been perverted by those who use it to defend racism, bigotry, and hate. For too many, the label has become a shield for the very things Christ stood against.
On Judgment and Public Discourse I believe it is possible to disagree with a person’s lifestyle or the way they choose to love without making it a mission to be vocal about that disagreement. As followers of His teachings, we are not called to go out of our way to broadcast our disapproval. To truly follow the Lord is to love all people as He does. A person of faith should not be an instrument of judgment, nor should they use public forums like social media to voice hate or intolerance.
On the True Nature of Grace To me, a life of faith is defined by grace, kindness, and a profound sense of empathy for our fellow man and the unique struggles they face. This is most evident in how we treat the vulnerable, specifically the homeless.
Beyond the Surface: We must stop looking at the displaced as "eyesores" or lumping them into a single category.
Understanding the Cause: Rather than assuming every person on the street is there due to drug addiction, we are called to show compassion and seek to understand the underlying circumstances of their journey.
Dignity in Ministry: True faith means counseling, ministering, and offering tangible help. It means treating every individual with the dignity they deserve as a human being.
My Path Forward The word "Christian" has been hijacked by those who lack the humility to see their own shortcomings—sinners who twist the Lord’s words to justify their own prejudices. Because that identity has become so distorted by those who use the Word to mask their hate, I have chosen to simplify my walk.
I no longer seek a label that carries such heavy, corrupted baggage. Instead, I consider myself a person of faith—a nondenominational, spiritual soul who loves God and strives to live out His message of unconditional love and mercy.

Additional Information
I offer council and guidance to those suffering from PTSD, addiction and life in general. I love working with fellow veterans including those suffering from PTSD and trauma from war and who are battling addiction and struggling with the reality of no longer being in the service and having to adapt to civilian life. I have a unique perspective as a 100% disabled veteran who battles PTSD and who overcome addiction which was a symptom of my PTSD. Not only do I offer my fellow veterans an opportunity to talk and discuss their struggles, I also offer my wisdom and advice. I also help my fellow veterans who are trying to get benifits from the VA and don't know where to start. I help them navigate the VA and get the benefits and care they are entitled for. I also help counsel my fellow veterans or those currently serving who are dealing with being a member of the LGBT+ community. That in it's self can be a struggle of it's own. I offer a judgment free ear that will listen, give advice and prey with them. I know the struggles of PTSD, Addiction and being gay in the military and I want to share how I was able to overcome and get a grip on my mental health and over all well being and how I delt with the discrimination. No matter a persons faith or their beliefs I am here to help.
