Gay man, Black man, Cisgender, Ordained Minister - As a young person coming up, I was raised in the Pentecostal faith. At age 17, however, when I was forced to choose between my authentic self and church doctrine which preached against homosexuality, I left the church. I left the church but I did not leave God. Or, rather, He did not forsake me.

40 years later, I can say that while my faith is grounded in Christianity, it sometimes departs from traditional Christian theology and biblical isms.
