Vastia P Sylvester
Ordained Minister in brooklyn, New York
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
My journey into ministry began not with a formal calling, but with a deeply personal one. A dear friend of mine was planning her wedding and had a very specific vision — she didn’t want just any officiant standing at the altar. She wanted someone who had truly been present in her life and in her marriage, someone who was honest, God-fearing, and genuinely invested in the union she and her husband were building together. She wanted the person holding that sacred space to actually mean it. She chose me. That moment changed everything. Standing before her and her husband, witnessing and honoring the covenant they were making, I felt something awaken in me — a sense of purpose I hadn’t expected but couldn’t ignore. What began as an act of love for a friend became a calling I’ve now carried for over ten years. In the decade since, I’ve had the privilege of officiating ceremonies that range from intimate gatherings to elaborate celebrations, always with that same spirit at the center: that a wedding is not just an event, it is a sacred beginning. I bring to every ceremony the same qualities my friend trusted in me — honesty, faith, and a wholehearted investment in the couple standing before me.

What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
World domination — one wedding at a time. But in all seriousness, my ordination opened the door to serving people in some of the most sacred moments of their lives. From weddings and vow renewals to funerals, house blessings, same-sex marriages, premarital counseling, spiritual healing, and general ministry, I show up wherever love, faith, and life intersect. My goal is simple: to be the kind of minister people actually want in the room.
