Jaiell DeSean Brown
Ordained Minister in Petersburg, Virginia
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I originally became an ordained minister online because someone close to me asked me to officiate their wedding. It meant a lot to them to have someone they trusted lead such an important moment, and I wanted to honor that. Getting ordained online was the simplest way to make it official, but the motivation behind it was personal — I wanted to support people I care about and be part of a meaningful milestone in their lives.
Where are you from?
Richmond Virginia
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
I hope to use my online ordination to create a safe, loving, and judgment free space for everyone especially for LGBTQ+ individuals and same sex couples, who haven’t always been welcomed or affirmed in spiritual settings. As a pansexual man, I care deeply about making sure all people have equal access to love, marriage, and meaningful spiritual experiences.
I want to help people connect with God in a way that feels inclusive, compassionate, and free from fear or shame. My goal is to offer ceremonies, support, and guidance that honor who people are, who they love, and the spiritual path they choose.
