Chaplain Jonathan James Barnes Bio:

Jonathan James Barnes has owned Exclusive Protection Services since 2004. His firm provided Executive Protection for a number of high-end entertainers and C.E.O’s. He brings experience from several law enforcement agencies as well as military training. In August of 2010, Mr. Barnes established at the time Divine Haven, now Serene Haven Inc housing for veterans. As co-founder and Executive Director of Serene Haven Inc. Mr. Barnes’ has built a great working relationship with the Greater Los Angeles Veteran Affairs Hospital and Long Beach Veteran Affairs Supportive Housing program (VASH program) and their Case managers.

As of February 2016, Mr. Barnes has become certified with the National Chaplaincy Certification, while attending The Word of God International University in Los Angeles CA. On July 8, 2016 Chaplain Jonathan James Barnes was ordained and anointed as a Chaplain. In which now he provides Spiritual Counseling and Crisis Intervention for the veteran’s Serene Haven serves. Also, Chaplain Barnes was called to begin to provide Court and Jail Ministerial Services as a Representative of National Action Network Loa Angeles Chapter. And in 2017, has been appointed as the Official Chaplain of NABVETS (National Association for Black Veterans) Los Angeles Chapter. As well as of March 2, 2018 Chaplain Barnes has been Ordained as a Chaplain by Universal Life Church. As a Chaplain, Chaplain Barnes is called to Ministry to and receive all Spiritual beliefs.

Chaplain Barnes has worked adamantly to gain acknowledgement amongst some of the more well know and successful non-profit organizations in the state of California that focuses on housing for the homeless. As well as received great accolades from organizations such as, Mercy House of Orange County CA, New Directions Salvation Army’s Bell Shelter, AM Vets, US Vets, Montford Point Marines Association, Brendai Foundation. Chaplain Barnes has gained the support of the State of California Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA) from Retired Major General Secretary Peter J. Gravett via Deputy Secretary of Communications & Legislation J.P. Tremblay.

Chaplain Barnes single handedly qualified Serene Haven Inc as an official non-profit organization by gaining the approval from the Internal Revenue Service with-in six months starting Serene Haven. Chaplain Barnes now has started housing veterans in our apartment under our Permanent Supportive Housing (P.S.H.) program, in the Los Angeles county area. As of current date, Serene Haven has successful housed 59 out of 60 veterans under their P.S.H. program. Chaplain Barnes also has a great working relationship with the Los Angeles Supportive Housing Administration (LASHA), supportive Services for Veteran Families, and Homeless Prevention Re-housing Program (HPRP). Chaplain Barnes has taken on the task of working hand and hand with the veterans’ Case Managers to prevent the veterans from losing their housing, as well as over sees all day-to-day operations of the progress of Serene Haven Inc.

Chaplain Barnes Ministry has been Blessed as of January 2018, he has been brought as a Chaplain for Tender Touch Hospice Care. In which Chaplain Barnes Officiates Spiritual Counseling for Hospice patient throughout the southern California area.
