Deena B. Sherman
Ordained Minister in Aurora, Illinois
About Me:
I graduated with a Master of Arts in Theology from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago in 1989. I did not seek ordination in the ELCA because I was not willing to assert that Christianity is the only path to connect with the divine. For many years I was a writer (Augsburg Fortress Press, Group Publishing, Fairway Press, Sun Times News Media) and teacher (Valparaiso University, Aurora University, et al). Over the years I have performed rituals (baptisms, home blessings, etc.) for friends. I now wish to make my skills available to others. I am especially effective for people who have a background in the Christian tradition, but have been reluctant to claim it because they are uncomfortable with the misogyny, homophobia, or general arrogance that is too often present in Christian groups. I have also done Pagan rituals and have some familiarity with other spiritual practices. I would love to work with you to make your event special.
