Stephanie Marie Brown
Ordained Minister in Jersey City, New Jersey
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
At the time I planned to become a jeweler. I wanted to be able to combine the two as a great service to people with no church affiliation and who had a difficult time finding a minister due to their inherent sexuality and/or gender identity. Now that I am a jeweler, I realize how important it is that the two roles be separate to allow appropriate time for quality control and prep. I am also intensely afraid of ruining someone's wedding.
Where are you from?
I am a Louisiana New Jerseyan, currently residing in Jersey City, NJ.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
While I can't be sure that there is a God, or even one God, I know that we each have the power to control our own actions and reactions. I know that community and support mean the world to people in uncertain times and I know that each ending marks a new beginning. New beginnings deserve reverence and celebration, while endings sometimes require solemn reflection and grief. I'll be there to provide the necessary service and shoulder for both of these transitions from one stage to the next.
