Breanna Whittum
Ordained Minister in Sycamore, Ohio
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I originally became an ordained minister because I’ve always believed that there is something incredibly special about two people choosing to build a life together. I love hearing people’s love stories and learning about what brought them to the moment of saying, “I do.”
I wanted to become an officiant because I saw an opportunity to make ceremonies feel more personal, genuine, and meaningful. Not every couple wants a traditional ceremony, and I love being able to create something that truly reflects who they are as a couple.
Being trusted to stand beside two people during one of the most important moments of their lives is something I don’t take lightly. I wanted to be able to help couples celebrate their love in a way that feels authentic to them, while also bringing a little warmth, personality, and joy to their special day.

What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
Through my online ordination in ministry, I hope to have the opportunity to serve people during some of the most meaningful moments of their lives. I especially want to use my ordination to officiate weddings and create ceremonies that are personal, heartfelt, and reflective of each couple’s unique relationship and beliefs.
I also hope to create a welcoming space for couples from all different backgrounds, faiths, spiritual paths, and those who may not consider themselves religious at all. My goal is not to impose my own beliefs, but to honor the beliefs and values of the people I’m serving.
Ultimately, I hope my ministry allows me to bring people together, celebrate love and commitment, and help couples begin their next chapter surrounded by words and traditions that truly mean something to them.

Additional Information
I was raised with a blend of Lutheran and Wiccan influences. My mother was raised Catholic before finding her own path in Wicca, so I grew up being exposed to different beliefs and perspectives. I also spent several years involved in the Wesleyan tradition through my former marriage to a pastor’s son, which gave me an appreciation for Christian faith and traditions as well.
Today, I personally identify with Wicca. My own spiritual path has taught me to respect that everyone’s beliefs and traditions are deeply personal. As a wedding officiant, I’m happy to work with couples of different faiths, spiritual backgrounds, or no religious affiliation at all. My focus is on creating a ceremony that honors the couple, their relationship, and the beliefs and traditions that are meaningful to them.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Sycamore, OH wedding officiant?
I think what makes my ceremonies special is that I don’t believe there’s a “one-size-fits-all” wedding ceremony. Every couple has their own story, their own personalities, and their own reasons for choosing each other, and I want their ceremony to reflect that.
I take the time to get to know the couple and incorporate the little details that make their relationship unique—their love story, their memories, their personalities, and even the things that make them laugh. My goal is for the ceremony to feel genuine, personal, and like them, rather than something they simply heard at someone else’s wedding.
Most importantly, I want the couple and their guests to feel the love behind the words. Whether the ceremony is emotional, funny, traditional, or completely unique, I want it to be a moment they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?

I’m also open to traveling for weddings when the location is within a reasonable distance. Whether it’s a small backyard ceremony, an intimate gathering, a venue wedding, or something completely unique, I’m happy to travel and help make the ceremony special wherever the couple chooses to celebrate.

Additional Information
I want couples to know that I’m here to make their ceremony feel personal, meaningful, and stress-free. I’m happy to work with couples who want something traditional, something simple and intimate, or something completely unique to them.
I believe the ceremony should be more than just saying the required words—it should tell a little piece of the couple’s story and reflect the love they share. I’m open to incorporating special readings, personal vows, meaningful traditions, humor, or other touches that make the ceremony truly theirs.
Above all, I want my couples to feel comfortable, heard, and excited about their ceremony. It’s an honor to be trusted with such an important moment, and I want every couple I work with to look back on their ceremony and remember how loved and special they felt.
