Nona Barnett
Ordained Minister in Florence, Oregon
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I originally became ordained when my daughter was preparing for her wedding during COVID. She had a beautiful plan, but when everything shut down, life changed, plans changed, and our family had to find a new normal. Love and commitment became more complicated to celebrate, but no less meaningful. I was honored to be asked to officiate her ceremony, and becoming ordained allowed me to support her and her spouse in a deeply personal way during an important moment in their lives.
Where are you from?
I am originally from Oregon, though my life has taken me to several places, including Florida, Nevada, California, and Guam. I served in the Navy and am married to a Navy veteran, so I understand how life can take unexpected turns and how important love, commitment, and family can be through every season.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
Through my ordination, I hope to provide meaningful, respectful, and heartfelt services for people who are ready to commit their lives, dreams, and futures to one another. I value the opportunity to help create ceremonies that reflect love, commitment, and the unique story of each couple.

Additional Information
I am ordained through Universal Life Church. Personally, my faith is rooted in God. I am guided by Jesus, love, compassion, service, and the sacred value of human connection. I also believe there is healing and peace to be found in nature, family, and the meaningful moments we share with one another. While I respect that each person’s beliefs and traditions may be different, I approach ministry with humility, sincerity, and a desire to honor love, commitment, and the couples and families I am trusted to support.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Florence, OR wedding officiant?
I believe every ceremony should feel personal, heartfelt, and meaningful to the couple being honored. My goal is to create a warm and respectful space where love, commitment, family, faith, and personal values can be reflected in a way that feels authentic. I take time to understand the couple’s story and hopes for their ceremony so their day feels sincere, memorable, and centered on the commitment they are making to one another.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
I am especially comfortable with small, meaningful, family-centered ceremonies and couples who want a heartfelt, respectful, and personal experience. I became ordained in 2021 to officiate my daughter’s wedding during COVID, and I will also be officiating my sister’s wedding. My background as a Registered Nurse and Navy veteran has given me experience supporting people through meaningful life moments with compassion, professionalism, and presence. I am open to local travel depending on scheduling, location, and ceremony needs.
