Daija Duncan
Ordained Minister in PROVIDENCE, Rhode Island
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I originally became an ordained minister online because I realized that the moments people remember most in life, weddings, funerals, vows, transitions, are deeply human, not just institutional. I wanted the ability to stand beside people I care about during those moments and help create something meaningful. It started as practical curiosity, but it became something deeper: a way of participating in community, ritual, and connection in a world where many people still want spirituality or ceremony, even if they don’t fully identify with traditional religious structures. Online ordination made that role accessible. It wasn’t about pretending to be a lifelong clergy member; it was about being trusted enough to help hold an important moment with sincerity and intention.
Where are you from?
I am from Mount Vernon, NY. I now live in Rhode Island.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
I hope to use my online ordination to help create meaningful, personal ceremonies that genuinely reflect the people involved rather than relying on something impersonal or scripted. More than anything, I want to provide support during important life moments, whether that’s officiating weddings, guiding celebrations, or simply helping people feel seen, respected, and connected during major transitions. I also see it as an opportunity to bring people together across different backgrounds and beliefs. The ordination represents a commitment to compassion, inclusion, and service, not just a title.

What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a PROVIDENCE, RI wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is that they’re deeply personal and centered on the couple’s actual story, values, and connection rather than a one-size-fits-all script. I focus on creating a ceremony that feels authentic, warm, and emotionally real for everyone present. I also try to balance professionalism with genuine human connection, making the moment feel meaningful without becoming overly formal or distant. Every couple is different, so I take time to understand what matters most to them, whether that’s humor, spirituality, family traditions, simplicity, or inclusivity. At the end of the day, the goal is for the ceremony to feel true to who the couple really is and to create a moment people will remember not because it was perfect, but because it felt sincere.
