Violeta T. Mitchell
Ordained Minister in San Antonio, Texas
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
My daughter was preparing for one of the most important days of her life—her wedding day. She had someone special in mind to officiate, a trusted friend, an ordained pastor. But unexpectedly, that door closed. Plans changed. Availability fell through. And suddenly, what was supposed to be a joyful moment became filled with disappointment.
As a mother, I saw her sadness. Not just because she needed an officiant… but because something she had envisioned wasn’t going to happen the way she dreamed.
I told her, “I’ll do it.”
At first, she didn’t want me to. She wanted me to enjoy the wedding… to just be her mom. But time was running out, and no one else was available.
So I stepped in.
I got ordained… not for a title, not for recognition… but for my daughter.
That day, I didn’t just stand as an officiant. I stood as a mother covering her child. I stood as a woman who refused to let her daughter’s moment fall apart. I stood in the gap.
And in that moment, I understood something deeper: Sometimes God will call you into positions you never asked for… not because you’re prepared, but because you’re willing.
What started as a last-minute decision became a divine assignment.
Because it wasn’t just about making the ceremony happen— it was about releasing blessing, covering, and covenant over her marriage.
