Dr. Matt Booth
Ordained Minister in Martinsburg, West Virginia
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became an ordained minister because my life has been shaped by a continuing search for knowledge, meaning, and service to others. My journey has always been one of lifelong education, not only in the academic sense, but also in learning how people live, struggle, grow, and find purpose. Through that process, I have come to understand that spiritual guidance is not about having every answer, but about being present, thoughtful, compassionate, and willing to walk alongside others during life’s most important moments.
My path has taught me that wisdom comes from both study and lived experience. I believe ministry is an extension of that belief: a way to honor people’s stories, support them with dignity, and help create meaning in moments of joy, transition, grief, love, and reflection. Becoming ordained felt like a natural step in a life already devoted to learning, understanding, and serving others with sincerity and respect.
I see ministry as an opportunity to bring together intellect, empathy, and spiritual openness in a way that helps others feel seen, supported, and valued.
Where are you from?
I am a lifelong resident of West Virginia, and I take deep pride in my roots and my identity as a proud West Virginian.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
I hope to use my ordination as a way to serve others with compassion, dignity, and purpose. My goal is to provide guidance, encouragement, and support during some of life’s most meaningful moments, whether those moments involve celebration, commitment, loss, reflection, or personal growth. I see ordination not simply as a title, but as a responsibility to be present for others in a way that is thoughtful, respectful, and grounded in genuine care.
I also hope to continue growing in wisdom and understanding through this calling. For me, ordination is an extension of a lifelong journey of learning, service, and spiritual reflection. It allows me to more intentionally help others find meaning, connection, and reassurance as they navigate their own paths in life.

Additional Information
My religious affiliations and perspective have been influenced by both personal reflection and my academic journey through faith-based institutions. Having attended religious universities such as Palm Beach Atlantic University and the University of the Cumberlands, I have been shaped by environments that valued faith, service, character, and lifelong learning.
I hold a PhD from the University of the Cumberlands, and that experience further strengthened my commitment to thoughtful growth, spiritual respect, and service to others. Together, these experiences have helped form a ministry approach that is compassionate, sincere, and mindful of the important role faith plays in many people’s lives.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Martinsburg, WV wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is the care and intention I bring to them. I believe a wedding ceremony should feel personal, meaningful, and reflective of the couple’s unique story rather than generic or routine. I strive to create ceremonies that honor the significance of the moment while also making the couple and their loved ones feel fully present, seen, and connected.
My approach is shaped by a lifelong commitment to learning, understanding people, and appreciating the deeper meaning behind life’s important milestones. Because of that, I bring thoughtfulness, sincerity, and a strong respect for the values, beliefs, and individuality of each couple. I want every ceremony to feel authentic, warm, and memorable—something that truly reflects who they are and what their commitment means to them.
Ultimately, I believe my ceremonies are special because they are grounded in compassion, respect, and the desire to make one of life’s most important moments feel genuinely personal and significant
