Ed V Riley
Ordained Minister in MUNSTER, Indiana
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I originally became an ordained minister online for one simple and deeply personal reason: to marry my daughter. When the time came for her wedding, I wanted to do more than just attend. I wanted to take part in one of the most meaningful moments of her life in a way that was personal, heartfelt, and unforgettable. Becoming ordained allowed me to stand beside her, not only as her parent, but also as the person honored to join her and her partner in marriage.
What began as something I did for my family became something much more meaningful to me. I came to appreciate the importance of a ceremony that feels sincere, personal, and centered on love rather than formality alone. Being able to help create that kind of moment is something I value deeply.
My decision was never about money or status. It was about love, family, and the desire to make a special day even more personal. Since then, I have seen officiating as a true privilege. Every couple deserves a ceremony that reflects who they are and the commitment they are making, and I am honored to play a small part in that.
Where are you from?
Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
I believe the joy of marriage should be shared without financial pressure. My purpose in officiating weddings is to help couples celebrate one of the most meaningful moments of their lives with sincerity, warmth, and respect. For that reason, I do not charge a fee for performing marriage ceremonies. Instead of paying me, I simply ask that couples consider making a donation of any amount to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude is a mission I deeply admire because they provide world-class care to children facing serious illnesses and support families during unimaginably difficult times. Their work brings hope, healing, and compassion to those who need it most. By choosing to donate, your special day can also become part of something bigger, helping children and families receive care and support. Your marriage ceremony should be about love, commitment, and the beginning of a beautiful new chapter together. It is my honor to be part of that moment. In place of a fee, a donation to St. Jude would be a meaningful and generous way to celebrate your union. I can also make this sound more formal, more heartfelt, or shorter depending on the couples needs
Religious Affiliations
