Domingos Agostinho Silva Pereira Cunha
Ordained Minister in Penafiel, Porto
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became an ordained minister through the Universal Life Church because I wanted to beautifully combine my spiritual side with my professional role as a Civil Servant at the Registration Office of Penafiel, Portugal. As someone who already celebrates civil marriages, becoming an ordained minister allowed me to offer couples a deeper, more meaningful ceremony that blends legal recognition with spiritual warmth and personal significance.
Where are you from?
I was born in Oporto (Porto), Portugal, and now live in Penafiel, a peaceful, mostly rural town located about 30 km from the city. Surrounded by beautiful countryside, it’s a calm and welcoming place that perfectly reflects the relaxed and heartfelt approach I bring to every ceremony.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
My goal is to create more elaborate, personalized, and spiritually rich wedding ceremonies for couples. I’m passionate about connecting with people from different backgrounds and faiths, learning from their beliefs, and helping them celebrate their love in a way that feels authentic and inclusive. This ordination allows me to broaden my perspective while offering couples a truly meaningful experience.
Religious Affiliations
Catholicism, Universal Life Church
Additional Information
I was raised in a Catholic family and even served as a catechist when I was younger. While I still deeply respect the core teachings and spiritual roots of Christianity, I believe the institutional Church has, in many ways, drifted from its original message. For me, faith and spirituality are personal journeys. I separate the religion from the institution and remain open to all beliefs, embracing an inclusive and tolerant approach that welcomes couples of all faiths — or none at all.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Penafiel, 13 wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is the relaxed, warm, and “easy-going” atmosphere I create. While I deeply respect the sacredness of the moment, I gently remove some of the pressure that couples often feel on their big day. I personalize every ceremony to reflect the couple’s unique love story, bringing a sense of peace, lightness, and joy. The result is a celebration that feels both meaningful and delightfully human.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
I primarily officiate weddings in the districts of Porto and Aveiro in northern Portugal. These are the areas where I feel most connected and where I have the most experience. I’m happy to travel elsewhere in Portugal or even abroad for special requests, provided travel expenses are covered. In my local area (Porto and Aveiro districts), there are no additional officiant fees beyond the standard costs charged by the civil registration office, which are already included in your civil marriage process.
Types of Service Offered
Marriages, Same-Sex Marriages, Renewal of Vows
Additional Information
As a wedding officiant, I offer personalized, heartfelt ceremonies that can be as spiritual, non-religious, or interfaith as you desire. Whether you want a simple civil ceremony with added warmth or a more elaborate celebration with symbolic rituals, I work closely with each couple to craft an experience that truly reflects who you are. My background in civil marriage registration ensures everything is legally perfect, while my spiritual approach adds depth, emotion, and beauty to your special day.
