Reverend Ryan Russel Johnson
Ordained Minister in Muncie, Indiana
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became an ordained minister because I felt a genuine calling to be present for people during life’s most meaningful moments. I’ve always believed that spirituality doesn’t have to be confined to one doctrine or tradition—it can be personal, inclusive, and rooted in connection. Becoming ordained gave me a simple but powerful way to serve others: to help celebrate love, honor commitments, and hold space for reflection, growth, and community. It wasn’t about titles—it was about being able to say “yes” when someone needed guidance, support, or someone to stand beside them.
Where are you from?
I’m from Muncie, Indiana, a place where community still matters and people show up for each other. Growing up and living here has shaped my perspective on connection, authenticity, and the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels welcome. Whether it’s through music, gatherings, or shared experiences, I’ve always been drawn to bringing people together—and that same spirit carries into my role as a reverend.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
With my ordination, I hope to create meaningful, personalized experiences for people from all walks of life. Whether it’s officiating weddings, supporting individuals through transitions, or simply offering a grounded, non-judgmental presence, my goal is to meet people where they are. I want to help make ceremonies feel real, human, and reflective of the people at the center of them—free from pressure, full of intention, and rooted in something deeper than tradition alone.

Additional Information
I was raised in the Methodist tradition, which gave me a strong foundation in faith, service, and the importance of community. Over time, my perspective has expanded through studying many of the world’s major religions, each of which has offered valuable insights into how people seek meaning, connection, and purpose.
What I’ve come to appreciate most is the common ground that exists across these traditions—the shared emphasis on love, compassion, presence, and something greater than ourselves. Because of that, I don’t approach ministry from a strictly denominational standpoint. Instead, I lean into a more spiritual, inclusive perspective that allows me to meet people where they are, regardless of their background, beliefs, or level of faith.
This approach helps me create ceremonies that feel authentic and welcoming, whether they include elements of specific traditions or take on a more personalized, non-denominational tone. My goal is always to honor what is meaningful to the individuals involved, while keeping the focus on connection, intention, and the significance of the moment itself.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Muncie, IN wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is the balance I bring between professionalism, thoughtful organization, and a sense of style that keeps everything feeling fresh and memorable. I approach every ceremony with a clear structure and attention to detail—timing, flow, tone, and transitions are all carefully considered so the experience feels seamless for both the couple and their guests.
At the same time, I believe a ceremony should never feel rigid or generic. I work closely with each couple to understand their story, their energy, and what matters most to them, then shape a ceremony that reflects that in a way that feels natural and authentic. Whether it’s the pacing of the vows, the way moments are introduced, or how the ceremony builds emotionally, everything is intentional.
I also bring a bit of flair—confidence in delivery, comfort in front of a crowd, and the ability to read the room. That means knowing when to lean into emotion, when to bring a touch of lightness, and how to keep everyone engaged from beginning to end. The result is a ceremony that feels polished but never stiff, personal but never unstructured—something that people don’t just witness, but genuinely experience.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
I don’t limit myself to any one particular area—I’m always open to traveling wherever the moment calls for. That said, I have a lot of experience working in and around Muncie, Indiana, and there are some great local spots that naturally lend themselves to memorable ceremonies.
Places like Minnetrista, Tuhey Park, and the White River Greenway offer beautiful outdoor settings, while venues around downtown Muncie provide a more intimate, urban feel. I’ve also found that some of the most meaningful ceremonies happen in more personal spaces—backyards, family properties, or unique local venues that reflect the couple’s story.
Whether it’s something formal, casual, scenic, or completely outside the box, I’m comfortable adapting to the setting and helping make the most of it. For me, it’s less about the location and more about creating the right atmosphere wherever we are.

Additional Information
Beyond officiating, what I really offer is an experience.I naturally bring an energy that’s equal parts welcoming and engaging. Whether it’s a wedding, a vow renewal, or another meaningful moment, I don’t just show up to read a script—I help set the tone and create an atmosphere people actually feel.
My background in music, live events, and hosting comes through in how I present, how I connect with a crowd, and how I keep things moving without ever making it feel rushed or staged. I’m comfortable on the mic, I know how to read a room, and I take pride in making sure every moment lands the way it should.
I’m also flexible and easy to work with. Whether you want something deeply spiritual, lighthearted and fun, or somewhere in between, I can meet you there and help shape something that fits. I’m just as focused on the behind-the-scenes details—communication, planning, and coordination—as I am on the moment itself.
