Melissa Shelton
Ordained Minister in Poplar Springs, North Carolina
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became an ordained minister because I know firsthand what it feels like to walk through a dark season and find your way back to the light. Raised in the Christian faith, I spent years away from it — and that journey back gave me a deep compassion for others who may be struggling, searching, or simply trying to find their footing again.
My calling is rooted in meeting people exactly where they are, without judgment. Whether that means walking alongside someone through a difficult season of life, offering faith-based counseling, or celebrating a couple's commitment to one another in a Christian ceremony, my desire is always the same — to serve others with sincerity, grace, and a grounded presence.
Ordination gave me a way to formalize what has always been on my heart — to be a steady, compassionate voice for those who need one.

What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
Through my ordination, I hope to create a safe and welcoming space where anyone can seek guidance rooted in Christian principles — free from judgment and full of grace.
My deepest purpose is reaching those who have wandered away from their faith and may not even realize how much they are missed. Scripture reminds us that a shepherd will leave the ninety-nine to search for the one lost sheep — not out of obligation, but out of love. That image lives at the heart of everything I do.
I want to be that gentle reminder that the door is always open, that no season of distance is too long, and that returning is always possible. My goal is to offer clarity, encouragement, and compassionate spiritual support to anyone navigating a difficult crossroads — and to walk beside them as they find their way back to solid ground.
Ceremonies and celebrations are a joy when the opportunity arises, but it is that one wandering soul finding their way home that truly drives my calling.

What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Poplar Springs, NC wedding officiant?
What makes a ceremony truly special has nothing to do with elaborate words or performance. It has everything to do with presence, sincerity, and the quiet acknowledgment that something sacred is taking place. When I stand before a couple on their wedding day, my role is to hold that space with reverence and keep Christ at the center. A Christian marriage is not just a celebration between two people — it is a covenant made before God, and I treat it with exactly that kind of weight and tenderness.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
I am comfortable traveling throughout the southeastern United States for ministry needs. If you are located outside this region, please feel free to reach out — no distance is too great when it comes to honoring a sacred moment, and I am happy to discuss what might be possible.

Additional Information
I am simply here — to listen, to share, and to walk alongside others in whatever way is needed. My own life has known difficulty & struggle, and it was returning to the Lord and trusting Jesus to guide my steps that changed everything for me. That journey is not something I keep to myself. If you need someone to sit with you, pray with you, or simply hear your story without judgment, I am here for that too. I believe there is a light inside every person — placed there by God — and it is one of my greatest joys to help others see and embrace that light in themselves.
