Kandis Rich
Ordained Minister in Toledo, Ohio
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
After my husband and I had a DIY, backyard, garden-to-barn wedding on his parents' property, we realized we had so many resources all in one place and began to dream of becoming or developing a "one-stop shop" for marriage ceremonies, from cakes and flowers to music, venue, food, and decor. We needed a minister and, as a person with the spiritual gift of Shepherding, I thought I would look into what it would take. Since then, I have been examining my spiritual authority and praying for direction and guidance to ensure any unions made are according to God's Will.
Where are you from?
Born out of state, I grew up in Ohio and currently call the Toledo/Maumee, Ohio area "home."
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
I hope to help those who believe that marriage is so much more than "just a piece of paper" bring their union together legally and spiritually.
Religious Affiliations
Christianity, Other
Additional Information
I was raised Lutheran, then went searching and sampled many different religions by attending services with friends and acquaintences, from Native American faiths to Buddism to Pagan/Wiccan to Catholic to Agnostic, Hindi, Judaism, and more. After my searching, and the witnessing of miracles, I could not deny God the Father, God the Creator, and remain firm in my own Christian faith while respecting the faiths, religions, and spiritualities of others. I consider myself a non-denominational Christian.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Toledo, OH wedding officiant?
I pray over the proposed union and ask for God's Will and guidance. I also get to know the couple and incorporate many personal, beautiful details into their service.
Types of Service Offered
Marriages, Handfastings
Additional Information
I choose who I feel spiritually comfortable solemnizing a marriage union and reserve the right to politely decline if asked to officiate a wedding which does not sit right with me spiritually. I prefer that the couples I help to marry view marriage as a legal, mental, emotional, financial, social, and spiritual union, not "just a piece of paper." If you aren't ready to accept the weight of the union, keep dating. Marriage isn't for everyone, and that's okay. Fees for services can be discussed.
