Jessica Hodgin
Ordained Minister in Russell, Kentucky
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I felt called to ministry because I want to serve people at their most meaningful life moments—weddings, blessings, and rites of passage—in a way that is inclusive and deeply respectful. My goal is to create ceremonies that honor diverse beliefs, drawing inspiration from Catholic, Hindu, and Wiccan traditions, while centering love, commitment, and human dignity. I believe ministry is about meeting people where they are and helping them mark their milestones with authenticity and care.
Where are you from?
I was born in Council Bluffs, IA but grew up in NW Missouri. I have lived in and around Kansas City, MO; Topeka, KS; and now live in the NE Kentucky where the bridges meet Ohio and West Virginia.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
My goal with my online ordination is to provide inclusive, interfaith ministry that meets people where they are. I want to serve couples and families across traditions, especially interfaith couples and underserved communities, and create ceremonies that honor love, dignity, and personal belief beyond the boundaries of any one institution.
Religious Affiliations
Catholicism, Hare Krishna, Hinduism, Wicca
Additional Information
My spiritual path has been shaped by a life of sincere seeking across traditions. I was baptized Lutheran, converted to Catholicism at eight, and received the major sacraments, including First Communion, Reconciliation, and Confirmation. At eighteen, I found my way to Wicca, and later, at twenty five, I was drawn to Hinduism. Each of these traditions has contributed to how I understand faith, ritual, and the sacred, and together they inform my interfaith approach to ministry: one rooted in respect, compassion, and honoring each person’s beliefs and story.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Russell, KY wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is that they are truly personal, inclusive, and rooted in the couple’s story. I don’t use generic scripts—I work with each couple to create a ceremony that reflects who they are, their values, and their journey together. Drawing from interfaith perspectives, including Catholic, Hindu, and Wiccan influences when appropriate, I aim to craft ceremonies that honor diverse beliefs while keeping the focus on love, commitment, and meaning. My goal is for every couple—especially those who don’t always feel represented by traditional institutions—to feel fully seen, respected, and celebrated on their wedding day.

Additional Information
In addition to weddings, I offer a full range of inclusive, interfaith ministry services, including handfastings, funerals and memorials, baptisms and christenings, house blessings, and general pastoral support. My approach is always personal and respectful—I work with individuals and families to create ceremonies that reflect their beliefs, values, and stories rather than relying on one-size-fits-all scripts.
