Donald V. Dunham
Ordained Minister in Arcadia, Florida
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I’m a minister, but not in the way people usually assume.
I waited nearly 29 years before accepting that title, and I chose a life of simplicity and discipline so I could focus on service, health, and helping people live together more peacefully. I don’t preach at people. I don’t recruit. I don’t judge. I listen, I build, and I help where I can.
A lot of my work centers on what I often call “bringing back the village.” By that, I mean restoring basic human things we’ve lost—spaces where people can talk without fear, share skills without strings attached, and exist without being pressured to perform or agree.
That’s the purpose behind EXIT FELLOWSHIP—a quiet, voluntary space for honest conversation and shared presence. No doctrine. No fundraising. No obligation to stay. You’re free to speak, free to listen, and free to leave at any time.
In everyday life, I focus on practical skills, health, systems improvement, and respectful cooperation. I believe communities work better when people are treated like humans, not problems to be managed.
If that resonates, you’re welcome here. If it doesn’t, that’s okay too.
Take what’s useful. Leave what isn’t. Exit is always honored.
Where are you from?
The Cascade Mountains.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
What I Hope to Achieve
What I hope to achieve is simple.
I want people to have at least one place where they can be human without being judged, fixed, recruited, or managed. A place where someone can talk if they need to, stay quiet if they don’t, and leave without guilt or explanation.
I want to help bring back the idea of the village, not as nostalgia, but as a practical way of living. A way where people look out for each other, share skills, reduce harm, and don’t leave others isolated just because life got complicated.
I hope to improve health, not just physically, but socially, by reducing stress, fear, and loneliness, and replacing them with calm, respect, and cooperation. I want to help create environments where people can live and work together peacefully without pressure or control.
I’m not trying to build a movement, grow an organization, or convince anyone of anything. I’m trying to make space. Space for listening. Space for clarity. Space for people to remember that they matter.
If that space helps someone breathe a little easier, think a little clearer, or feel less alone, then it’s working.
That’s enough for me.
