Heather Golob
Ordained Minister in Saginaw, Michigan
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I chose to become an ordained minister because I saw a real need within my community. The Deaf community is small, close-knit, and deeply connected, yet there are very few ministers who are fluent in ASL or understand Deaf culture. I wanted to help fill that gap and ensure Deaf individuals and families have access to someone who can support them in their language and with cultural understanding.
Additionally, I am a strong ally of the LGBTQ community, and it’s important to me that people of all identities feel welcomed, affirmed, and respected. Becoming ordained allows me to serve with inclusivity, compassion, and representation at the center of everything I do.
Where are you from?
Michigan
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
With my online ordination, I hope to create greater access, inclusion, and representation for people who are often overlooked in traditional spaces. I want Deaf individuals to have a minister who communicates directly in ASL and understands the cultural nuances that shape our community. I also hope to provide a safe, affirming presence for LGBTQ individuals and families who deserve to be celebrated, supported, and seen without judgment.
Ultimately, I aim to offer meaningful ceremonies, guidance, and support rooted in respect, authenticity, and compassion—so that everyone, regardless of language or identity, has someone they can trust during life’s most important moments.

What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Saginaw, MI wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is the level of intention, inclusivity, and personalization I bring to every couple I work with. As a Deaf minister who communicates directly in ASL and understands Deaf culture, I’m able to create ceremonies where Deaf individuals, CODAs, and signing families feel fully included—not just accommodated.
I also approach each wedding with deep respect for LGBTQ identities, ensuring every couple sees their love honored exactly as it is, without judgment or limitation.
Beyond that, I take the time to learn each couple’s story, their personalities, their humor, and the small details that matter to them. I weave those pieces into the ceremony so it feels authentic, heartfelt, and uniquely theirs.
My goal is for the moment to feel intimate, meaningful, and deeply reflective of who they are—so the ceremony becomes not just an event, but a memory they’ll hold onto for a lifetime.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
I live in Michigan and I’m able to travel anywhere in 50 states. My primary language is ASL.
