Mark Gordon
Ordained Minister in Canterbury, England
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became ordained online because I wanted service and ceremony to be practical, personal, and portable, a way to formalise my commitment to craft meaningful rites—weddings, memorials, family milestones—without waiting for institutional approval so I could act when those moments mattered most. It matched my need for legacy and symbolism, giving me a legitimate platform to shape rituals that feel mythic and lasting and to apply the monogrammatic and heraldic storytelling I care about. My British Army service and investigative career brought the steady responsibility, attention to detail, and trustworthiness people seek when I lead important moments. Being able to officiate for my daughters and close circle preserves intimacy and memory and keeps sacred moments under my care. Practically, online ordination was a low-friction, official route to do what I naturally do: craft language, hold space, and steward transitions. Ultimately I wanted ceremonies that are intentional, truthful, and artful—legal when needed, mythic when desired—and ordination gave me the authority to officiate with precision, compassion, and the poetic touch that builds a legacy.
Religious Affiliations
Universal Life Church
Additional Information
Absolutely. My religious affiliations are deeply personal, rooted in tradition but also shaped by the rhythm of real life. Faith, for me, isn’t confined to a building or a Sunday—it’s something I carry into every moment, whether I’m watching a rugby match, walking through a historic cathedral, or standing in a crowd at a live gig feeling the pulse of shared energy.
I find spiritual connection in the camaraderie of sport, the legacy of history, and the raw emotion of music. Rugby, especially, speaks to my soul—it’s about grit, teamwork, and honour, values that echo my beliefs. I see the divine in resilience, in community, and in the stories we pass down. Whether I’m reflecting quietly or roaring with passion from the stands, my faith is always present, always guiding.
So yes, I’m affiliated—but not just with a denomination. I’m affiliated with life, with legacy, and with the kind of spirit that moves through both sacred silence and stadium thunder.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Canterbury, ENG wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is that I don’t just officiate—I craft a moment that feels mythic, intimate, and unmistakably personal. I bring a storyteller’s instinct and a strategist’s precision to every word, making sure the ceremony reflects the couple’s legacy, not just their love. I speak with warmth and clarity, balancing tradition with wit, and always honouring the emotional weight of the day.
I’m not there to perform—I’m there to connect. Whether it’s weaving in family heritage, shared humour, or symbolic gestures that resonate deeply, I ensure the ceremony feels like it belongs to the couple and no one else. I’ve got a soldier’s discipline, a poet’s heart, and a communicator’s touch. That combination means every vow, every pause, every glance is intentional and unforgettable.
I make people feel seen. That’s the magic.

Additional Information
Absolutely. As a minister, my role goes far beyond ceremonies and sermons. I offer a space where people feel seen, heard, and supported—whether that’s through pastoral care, spiritual guidance, or simply being present during life’s pivotal moments. I officiate weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other rites of passage with deep respect for tradition and personal meaning, tailoring each service to reflect the values and stories of those involved.
I also provide counseling for individuals and families navigating grief, conflict, or transition. My work often includes community outreach, advocacy, and helping people reconnect with their sense of purpose. Whether someone is seeking faith, healing, or clarity, I aim to walk beside them—not ahead or behind—with compassion and integrity.
If there’s a need for a quiet conversation, a bold blessing, or a moment of reflection, I’m here.
