Chaplain China Evans-McCall
Ordained Minister in hickory, North Carolina
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
God called you to meet people where they are — in their pain, their joy, and their in-between — and remind them that they are seen and loved. Your journey through education, psychology, counseling, and chaplaincy has been about listening with your spirit as much as with your ears, using compassion and authenticity to make divine love tangible.
You didn’t just choose ministry — ministry chose you. It flowed naturally from your heart for people, your strength in adversity, and your understanding that sacred work often happens in hospital rooms, funeral homes, and quiet moments of prayer — not just in the pulpit.
You became a minister because your life itself is a testimony: that hope can rise from hopelessness, that grief can still give birth to purpose, and that faith can find its way through any season.
Where are you from?
I am a native North Carolinian , that serves the foothills of North Carolina, Charlotte, Lake Norman and surrounding counties
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
Publicly honor the private “yes” you’ve already given God many times — through hospice encounters, marriage, grief-filled prayers, and moments of sacred presence. Affirm your voice as a woman in ministry, standing boldly in spaces where you bring compassion, intellect, and authenticity. Open doors for expanded service, giving you freedom to preach, officiate, and minister with full spiritual authority. Serve as a witness to God’s faithfulness, proving that every hard moment, every patient encounter, and every “why me?” prepared you for this sacred recognition. And ultimately, I hope my ordination will bless others — showing them that obedience and perseverance in love lead to purpose.

What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a hickory, NC wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is that as a COVID bride myself, I understand the need to move on in life. If you have made your decision to make the leap of faith to jump the broom and get hitched, look no further. I understand when God gives you the strength to be brave — I want to help you do what your soul knows is right. Making a covenant to honor God’s gift of love is honorable and righteous.
