Colleen Marie Farese
Ordained Minister in Wilmington, North Carolina
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
The journey to becoming an ordained minister online was a very personal one for me, and it started during a time of great uncertainty. Like many, the pandemic led me to reconsider my own faith and how it fit into my life. I felt a calling to take a step of faith, but I also felt a disconnect from traditional church. Ordination felt like an honest way to explore my beliefs on my own terms. Though my initial plans for it changed, the journey ultimately led to something even more significant. I recently had the honor of officiating the wedding of two dear friends. The experience of helping them create a ceremony that truly reflected their love and commitment was a profound moment. It showed me that ministry is not just about a title; it's about walking alongside people and celebrating life's most sacred moments with them.
Where are you from?
Currently from Wilmington, NC. Originally from an hour outside Philly - Bucks County, PA
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
My hope is to re-imagine what ministry can look like in the 21st century. I believe that people are seeking connection and meaning outside of traditional religious institutions. With my online ordination, I hope to create a space for spiritual exploration and celebration that is inclusive, authentic, and free from the constraints of dogma. Whether it's through officiating a friend's wedding, offering a non-denominational blessing, or simply being a listening ear, I hope to use this status to serve others with compassion and to build a more connected and meaningful world, one relationship at a time.

Additional Information
I've found great wisdom in Buddhism, particularly in its emphasis on mindfulness, compassion, and the pursuit of inner peace. I've also been drawn to the earth-based spirituality of Wicca, which has deepened my appreciation for the natural world and the cycles of life. Ultimately, I see my spiritual path as one of openness. I believe that religion, at its core, is a deeply personal experience—a way to understand and connect with the divine through our own eyes. My ministry is rooted in this belief, and I approach every ceremony with respect for the unique spiritual path of those I serve.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Wilmington, NC wedding officiant?
I believe a ceremony should feel like a genuine and heartfelt conversation, not a script. By working closely with the couple to understand what matters most to them, I can craft a moment that is not only celebratory but also deeply personal and memorable for them and their guests.
