Dr. Demetra Williams-Crawford
Ordained Minister in Laurel, Maryland
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became an ordained clergy online because I wanted to support friends, family, and community members in celebrating love on their own terms. I value meaningful, inclusive, and personalized ceremonies, and I knew that becoming ordained would allow me to create those experiences—especially for couples who don’t feel represented by traditional religious structures. With a background in education and leadership, officiating weddings felt like a natural extension of the work I already do: guiding people through important life transitions with care and intention.
Where are you from?
I was born and raised in Dinwiddie County, Virginia—a small, close-knit community that taught me the importance of family, tradition, and togetherness. For over 30 years, I’ve called Maryland home, where I’ve built my career and continued my passion for serving others. Both places are a meaningful part of my story and who I am today!
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
Through this ordination, I hope to create personalized, heartfelt ceremonies that honor the unique love stories of each couple I serve. My goal is to provide a welcoming and inclusive space where people from all walks of life feel seen, respected, and celebrated. Whether it’s a large gathering or an intimate elopement, I want every couple to walk away feeling that their ceremony was truly about them. This work allows me to blend purpose with passion—and I’m honored to be part of such meaningful moments!
