Angelyn Anderson of Signed With Love Non-Denominational Officiant
Ordained Minister in Chicago, Illinois
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became ordained after realizing how few culturally grounded, affirming, and personalized options existed for couples—especially Black couples—seeking meaningful, non-traditional ceremonies. I had already been supporting people through milestone moments in my work as a notary and community-based wellness practitioner. Becoming ordained was a natural next step to continue showing up with intention and love.
Where are you from?
I'm proudly a native Chicagoan and currently live in the Bronzeville neighborhood—an area rich in culture, legacy, and deep-rooted community values.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
My goal is to help couples feel fully seen, honored, and supported as they step into this next chapter of life. Whether it's a city hall-style elopement, a micro-wedding in a cultural landmark, or a vow renewal in the presence of chosen family, I want the experience to reflect them. My ordination allows me to legally perform weddings while offering ceremonies that are warm, accessible, and free of unnecessary limitations.
Religious Affiliations
Christianity, Protestantism, Universal Life Church
Additional Information
I was raised in the Baptist tradition and later became Protestant as an adult, which has shaped my spiritual foundation in meaningful ways. While I draw from that background, the ceremonies I offer are non-denominational unless otherwise requested. I’m ordained through the Universal Life Church (ULC) and take pride in creating inclusive, affirming experiences for all couples, regardless of background, identity, or belief.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Chicago, IL wedding officiant?
Every ceremony I perform includes a signature moment of breath and grounding—a pause to connect, reflect, and bring presence into the space. I also tailor each ceremony to reflect the couple’s story, values, and traditions. I bring heart, cultural understanding, and intentional energy into every gathering, making sure it feels like you from start to finish.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
Yes! I'm based in Bronzeville on the South Side of Chicago, and I love officiating ceremonies in culturally rich, historic neighborhoods like Hyde Park, Kenwood, and Grand Boulevard. I also frequently serve couples in Downtown, the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, the West Loop, and the Medical District—areas that offer stunning city backdrops for intimate and stylish gatherings. My familiarity with these neighborhoods means I can help couples navigate venue options, permitting needs, and local gems that add character and meaning to their day.
