Rev. Matthew Rak
Ordained Minister in Troy, Michigan
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I became an ordained minister online to better support the families I serve as a Funeral Director. Over the years, I encountered situations where a family either didn’t have a clergy member available or wanted someone they trusted to lead the service. Becoming ordained allowed me to offer that additional support in a respectful and meaningful way. For me, it was about meeting families where they are and ensuring their loved ones' services were personal, dignified, and comforting.
Where are you from?
Troy, Michigan
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
My goal with becoming ordained online is to provide families with a more complete and personal experience during one of the most difficult times in their lives. I want to be able to step in and lead meaningful services when needed—especially when families don't have a connection to a church or clergy. It’s about offering comfort, flexibility, and dignity, and ensuring that every ceremony reflects the values and wishes of the loved one being honored.

What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Troy, MI wedding officiant?
Every couple has a unique love story—and my goal is to honor that story in a way that feels heartfelt, personal, and unforgettable. I don’t believe in cookie-cutter ceremonies. I take time to get to know you, understand your journey together, and craft a ceremony that reflects your personalities, values, and vision for your big day.
Whether you want something traditional, spiritual, modern, playful, or deeply emotional, I create a warm and inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels connected. I bring a calm and confident presence, helping you feel at ease even in those beautifully emotional moments.
Above all, I believe your ceremony should feel like you. It should be a celebration of your love—authentic, meaningful, and filled with joy.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
I am a Licensed Funeral Director with over 15 years of experience. While I’m open to traveling wherever I’m needed, I do have particular familiarity with Oakland County. Over the years, I’ve developed strong relationships with cemeteries, clergy, and service providers in those regions, which allows me to coordinate services more efficiently and compassionately. That said, I’m always willing to adapt to new areas when needed.
