Sundrea Murry
Ordained Minister in Phenix City, Alabama
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I originally became an ordained minister because of the strong influence of my family and a deep desire to help others. Growing up, I saw how faith and service were central to our lives, and I felt a calling to continue that legacy. For me, ministry is about being present for people in their times of need, offering guidance, compassion, and support. It’s a way to live out my values and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
Where are you from?
I was born in Montgomery, Alabama, but I wasn’t raised there completely. With both my father and stepfather in the military, I moved around a lot growing up. That experience taught me that home isn’t a place—it’s where the heart is. I've been fortunate to be well-traveled, and each place I've lived has shaped who I am.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
I wanted to be ordained so I can offer more than just spiritual guidance—I want to serve in meaningful moments like weddings and funerals, and provide counseling and support when people need it most. My goal is to be someone who shows up, who gives time, and who’s willing to travel to bring joy, comfort, or healing—turning someone’s hardest day into a little bit of light.

What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Phenix City, AL wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is that I embrace both the joy and celebration of the moment, as well as the deeper spiritual meaning of the union. I take time to truly get to know the couple—not just the bride and groom, but their families too—so the ceremony reflects their unique story and connection. I also offer myself as a calming, supportive presence throughout the process, someone they can talk to during the stressful moments leading up to the wedding. My goal is to help make everything feel as smooth, personal, and meaningful as possible.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
I'm open and willing to travel anywhere to be part of a ceremony. Whether near or far, I believe every moment that brings people together in love, remembrance, or celebration is worth showing up for—and I’m honored to go wherever I’m needed.
