Angela Dawn Ayers
Ordained Minister in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina
About Me:
Growing up as a missionary's daughter in an Independent Baptist home, I saw faith in action from a young age. I was aslo surrounded by rules and regulations, do's/dont's, questions that went unanswered. My parents believed in the Bible to be the only authority to right living. Not really understanding the true meaning of communion and oneness with God, I disregarded much of my upbringing until later in life. After leaving home I had a hard time finding a place in this world; I just didn't seem to fit. In 2000, I began to ask God questions; one statement in particular I recall vividly, "God, if you are real, show me truth." It was more apparent after this that His hand was on my life, guiding my steps. I've been a truth seeker ever since, and I continue to learn more and more about his awesomeness, vastness and limitlessness every day, not to mention love without conditions. I have come to a place where I more understand that the Truth lies inside of each and every one of us, sometimes we just need someone, a circumstance, or some thing to open that portal of understanding-a paradigm shift. "And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free", John 8:32. I have taught Sunday Schools, Children's, teen, and ladies ministries, "soul winning", sang in choirs, groups, solos, and traveled to other countries throughout my years of service to the church, but I still knew that something was missing. I have since learned that I am the church, and have a desire to share with those around me the great power that lies within-because we are made in HIS image; the unconditional love of Source, that vitality that lives, breathes, and moves through ALL living things. This awareness of union and connection with all has been broken within our world. Let us remove all obstacles hindering that glorious flow of Truth, Love and Light.
What I believe:
Something larger than ourselves: God, Source, Spirit, Universal Presence, I believe that Spirit is in and through all living things; this is vitality. We house this vitality, each and every one of us. "The Kingdom of God is within you", Luke 17:21.
Meet folks where they are: Unconditional love expressed and received will make us pliable and receptive to all, no matter race, creed, lifestyle, etc; Love covers all.
Jesus: I believe that Jesus was God made flesh and he dwelt among other men, going about His Father's business while on his earthly business. Healing the sick, raising the dead, feeding the poor; his attributes are desirable and are worthy of walking therein. Christ Consciousness is a way of life.
The Bible is considered to be part of sacred text and is profitable for instruction and comfort. Historical and metaphorical context should be considered in its interpretation. There are many other sacred text that are beneficial for every day living.
