Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
Many years in West Texas desert, Big Bend area. Viva Terlingua! I've spent time fishing and on the waters of Texas Gulf Coast. Just south of San Antonio by the Medina River trailhead is where I grew up and is now where I'm generally found.
