Dena Swift
Ordained Minister in Sublimity, Oregon
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
My path to ordination grew naturally out of my work as an end-of-life death doula. I wanted to be able to fully accompany people through life's most sacred transitions — not just hold space emotionally, but also officiate the ceremonies that mark those crossings. Whether conducting a funeral, a memorial, or a blessing at the threshold, ordination allows me to offer families something more complete: a compassionate, spiritually grounded presence from beginning to end.

What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
I hope to use my ordination to offer meaningful, personalized ceremonies and spiritual support that honor life's most important transitions. My goal is to create accessible, non-traditional services — grounded, intentional, and deeply human — so that every person or family I serve feels truly seen and cared for.

What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Sublimity, OR wedding officiant?
What makes my ceremonies special is the depth of presence, intention, and structure I bring to each one. My work lives at the intersection of life's thresholds — whether guiding families through transition, holding ritual space, or navigating significant decisions — so I approach every ceremony as a meaningful crossing, not just an event. I take time to truly understand each couple's story and craft a ceremony that reflects their values, their connection, and the life they're choosing together. Each ceremony becomes a container that honors love with clarity, reverence, and authenticity — personal, memorable, and aligned.
