Casey Musarra

I became an ordained minister just over two years ago when my friends Eddie and Matt asked me to marry them. I was blown away by their second proposal and almost immediately got to work on writing the ceremony. One of our friends who was present when they asked me to marry them asked what I was going to wear. "The Moira Rose outfit from Schitt's Creek, duh," I quipped. It started as a joke, but it became a reality when I walked down the aisle in the papal-like outfit I had commissioned by a designer. Of course, the couple gave me their permission to wear the outfit, and the whole ceremony was a hit. By day, I'm a journalism educator and writer, which I think lends itself well toward performing marriage ceremonies. In the two I've performed so far, I've made it a point to survey friends and family members to weave in their thoughts on the couple. Mostly, I enjoy getting to know new people and celebrating their joy.
