Jake Sturgill Hood
Ordained Minister in Temple, Texas
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
My birth sister was due to be married and was struggling to decide on how to go about finding a minister. I happily researched Universal Life Church, studied theological principles to reinforce my ordination, and since my ordination I've administered two weddings, an engagement blessing, and the blessing of a handfasting cord.
Where are you from?
I was born in Arkansas and raised in Texas, with grandparents in Oklahoma. I currently reside in central Texas near Waco/Temple.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
I hope to provide heartfelt, warmhearted access to an interfaith/nondenominational minister for those that might not want to reach out or are hesitant to include nonsecular ministries in their special occasion, whether due to compromising beliefs as a partnership, religious/spiritual trauma in the past, or existing dogma. While I'm happy to provide spiritual counseling within legal limitations, I specialize in events, rituals, and occasions, regardless of participant count.

Additional Information
I was raised between a plethora of modern Judeo-Christian houses of worship and have a thorough understanding of biblical worship from my youth. My most in-depth studies have spanned theological constructs and performative rituals across continents throughout time and as sociological structures.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Temple, TX wedding officiant?
I am a spiritually, emotionally, and academically educated individual who is passionate about helping you shape your religious ceremony in your way. From our first interactions to when we say "until next time," you will be treated with respect, dignity, love, and empathy as you rightfully deserve. I am culturally aware, a skilled writer and artist, and am intimately familiar with religious accessibility.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
I've traveled across the contingent United States, Austria, and Southern Germany. I tend to prefer colder and drier climates due to physical and mental health conditions and medications.

Additional Information
If you are interested in my sliding scale policy for those with limited ability to pay, please feel welcome and encouraged to contact me. Faith is a nonmonetary construct, thus any monetary barriers we encounter (legal filings, etc) we can discuss and approach them as a team. Unfortunately, my only limitations are that I am unable to perform weddings in climates above 85F and I must wear all-covering clothing for any outdoor events.
