Mark
Ordained Minister in Plainfield, Illinois
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I have been in ministry my entire life, in the sense that caring for and about others, working to help make their lives more rewarding and satisfying, has always been my purpose. I have been called to ministry as chaplain in healthcare and hospice settings and to service in both in weddings and baptisms (joyful events), as well as funerals and celebrations of life (moments of grief and healing). Prior to my entry in seminary, ULC has provided both the legal credential and additional resources to support this work
Where are you from?
Born in the US, I have lived in the Chicago area for the past 28 years, after having worked in many countries around the world. I've lived overseas for six years and gained a deep appreciation of different cultures and faith practices.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
To provide memorable and inspiring wedding ceremonies to couples who may not have a regular church home, and who want a marriage ceremony that is far more personal and special than a trip to the court house. A wedding ceremony should honor the significance of this lifelong commitment and the love you share.
Religious Affiliations
Buddhism, Christianity, Methodism, Protestantism, Unitarian Universalism, Universal Life Church
Additional Information
I was raised in the United Methodist Church, become quite familiar with different religions through my time overseas, my studies, and my work in a lay capacity in the Catholic church. Along the way I have experienced being estranged from the church, and have developed a personal spirituality and knowing of my relationship with creation and eternity.
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Plainfield, IL wedding officiant?
What differentiates me from other wedding officiants and pastors is the time and effort I put in to get to know the couple and to work with them in creating a ceremony they feel is perfect for them their families and their guests.

Additional Information
I often do spanish and blended english/spanish bilingual ceremonies. Through officiating over 100 weddings so far, no two have been the same; I work to custom-create and tailor the service to the style, personality and wishes of the couple. I believe strongly that it is YOUR wedding, not mine, so the ceremony needs to be how you want it and perfect in your eyes. My job is to listen, offer experience, ideas, and writing skills to give you the ceremony you want
