Keith Darensbourg

I was raised in the Church of God in Christ (C.O.G.I.C.) which was born out of the Christian pentecostal movement. As a professional vocalist and musician, I have also spent time in Christian churches of other denominations, namely the Black Methodist church and the Black Southern Baptist church, the latter of which I which is where I have most of my experience outside of the COGIC. I served as Minister/Director of music to a prominent church in my hometown in Louisiana for five years.

Still, I had always however felt called to other traditions as well and later decided that I did not have to confine myself to one belief system. I concluded that, contrary to popular opinion, I could pick and choose as many faiths as I wanted to contribute to my spiritual growth as I saw fit and that it exactly what I did.

While I still retain the sprit and some of the characteristics of a member of the COGIC, and a bit from Baptist experience, Today, I have chosen the African ancestral paths of Voodoo and Hoodoo practicing the varieties found in Louisiana which are, in some ways, influenced by the Roman-Catholic church as the Creole culture of my home state are heavily saturated with Catholic folk practices, some doctrine, behaviors, and aesthetics.

For this reason, I am well-versed in, and often make use of, many of the saints, prayers and catechisms of the Catholic faith.

I'm the best person to facilitate your ceremony because I am compassionate, wise, anointed and appointed. Because I believe in humanity and do not discriminate based on your own personal and/or religious beliefs and because I have so much experience with so many faiths. I will marry couples who are not of faith as well.
