Rev. Kim Kyōdo Wilson
Ordained Minister in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
As I am also a novice Zen (Buddhist) priest and a disabled person, I became an ordained minister online to support, encourage, and assist people with disabilities, LGBTQ+ people and others who might want an alternative to traditional religious gatherings (or adaptations of them). I am also familiar with many world religions and philosophies, along with the challenges that people with chronic illnesses face. I am primarily an online minister, and I focus on how I may serve often overlooked populations via the internet.
Where are you from?
I am born and raised in Philadelphia, and have lived here all my life. My ancestry comes from all over the world, and I appreciate all of my ancestries and their rich histories.

Additional Information
Yes - I don't consider myself as any one religion or belief system. I'm more of an Omnist, which is the view that all paths and all religions lead to the same Source, God, Goddess, etc. I am a practicing and active Zen priest, but I consider that my way of life, my path. I respect and honor all life-affirming faith traditions, and I relate to people where they are in their spiritual journeys. I will relate to you as a person, not a category. 🙏
What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Philadelphia, PA wedding officiant?
I don't consider myself a traditional wedding officiant, but I am a different kind of minister. I serve those who may not want a traditional approach to life's events or personal matters. My role is not to push my personal beliefs, but to listen to you and offer support, encouragement, or services (if needed). If you're looking for something different that isn't bound by strict religious rules and doctrines, or if you're disabled and need more flexible accommodations - consider contacting me.
Are there particular areas near you where you prefer to travel or have special experience?
I don't travel due to health reasons.

Additional Information
I am primarily an online minister. Zoom, Skype, Google Meet, WhatsApp, Messenger - I use it all and have for years. I work this way because I am disabled and live with chronic illness that greatly limits my ability to drive, travel, or even function on normal excursions. Online, I can reach the world.
