My name is Jimmy Rodden I am a Notary Public and I am a Fifer ! What's a ‘Fifer” you may ask. Many have thought it's something to do with bands, or indeed playing a Fife. It is the name of someone who is native to Fife in Scotland. To be more accurate, The Kingdom of Fife. https://www.nts.org.uk/stories/the-kingdom-of-fife
The Kingdom of Fife is a very historical and ancient part of Scotland. From Neolithic activity right to the present day, Fife can hold its head up with producing and playing its part in history. I was born in St Andrews and The First Battalion The Black Watch.is our local regiment . https://www.nam.ac.uk/explore/black-watch-royal-highlanders
I left Scotland only a few years ago and started a new life in Maine. Scotland of course, is my homeland, and something which cannot be denied or taken or challenged and is why I am offering a service now that will strike a chord with many that read this page.
At a late age in life, I left the country I loved, and still do, to be married. Literally days after arriving I became a member of the St Andrews Society which is an organization n with affiliations to practically every major city in the USA. I was asked to be their Master of Ceremonies at annual Highland Games, and also speaker at many functions too such as Rabbie Burns Nights and after dinner speaking.
After becoming familiar over many years I could see the heritage and proud claims of many Americans with ties to Scotland, and of how they longed to be there and their passionate following of their various Clans and affinity with a Country, with ties to their ancestral past I have to say I was very moved and proud and felt almost at home making many friends who shared a common bond and belonging.
I asked myself, often, what more could I give to those like minded people that can make them feel as if they truly are in Scotland? It was really very simple yet I couldn't see. There is no difference between myself and the thousands of people that came before me to this continent. People, strangers to a continent totally alien to themselves and being married in a small humble settlement by the Scottish preacher can now be attained again. That ceremony in itself will awaken the hundreds of thousands of Scottish or Irish for that matter, ancestors that have gone before you. Indeed, if that does not reach down into your DNA and stir a whirlpool of emotion and pride… then nothing will !
I was a wedding photographer for many years also and of course attended many Marriage ceremonies but now can offer to any hereditary Scot or not, to be married BY a Scot !
Now, No need to arrange and travel to Scotland to be married. Scotland will come to you.
The reason I became an Ordained Minister and Notary Public was mostly because of the fact that those who wanted or searched for a Scottish Wedding to honor their heritage and have a complete day to remember and to keep alive that chain of belonging to Scotland was to be the person to marry that couple. To the best of my knowledge, there are no natural born Scotsmen in the USA that are notaries. If there are ? There are none like myself with my provenance and history and awareness of the need to belong. If you, or someone you know, needs to have that exclusive experience, then The Real Scottish Notary is your destiny to have that portal to your past to join and confirm your future. Whatever your heritage , I will still be happy to officiate .
Fees are dependent on Travel and time of Year. Please Contact myself as i offer other options.
One last thing. As you browse through the profiles of people trying to solicit your patronage, if they do not take time to explain themselves on why YOU should use them, then i shall leave that to you to decide. Lastly, I offer no "Holistic" or gimmicky services. If thats something you require i'm not for you sorry. Im a straight forward, honest person that likes a ceremony to be traditional, I believe there is a God. is not a necessity that you do.
