John Young
Ordained Minister in Abilene, Texas
About Me:
A 30 year veteran of state and federal courtrooms across West Texas, John surrendered his legal practice in 2017 after losing a 3 1/2 year battle with the State of Texas over accusations of illegal conduct. After a 30 year career as a dedicated trial lawyer in courtrooms across Texas and then spending 21 months in the custody of the Texas prison system, John is uniquely qualified to understand the hurt, the heartache and the despair of those who have lost it all and the devastation these losses have on families and loved ones, especially the children. In addition to his service as an ordained minister, John now spends his time consulting with other lawyers and those accused of criminal conduct, helping develop case strategies and assisting in case preparation. He is also regularly hired by lawyers across West Texas to assist law firms in developing and refining law office policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and increase client service effectiveness. John is also in high demand as a speaker and lecturer on issues such as spirituality, spiritual growth, addiction and recovery as well as personal growth and development. Additionally John has been a frequent lecturer on topics such as the practical application of biblical principles in our daily lives, issues in the criminal justice system, individual liberty, personal responsibility and Government encroachment into our future, our families and our freedom. John is a 1983 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s degree in Government. He earned his Juris Doctor (law degree) from the Texas Tech University School of Law in 1988. John has been active in politics and issues of public interest for over 40 years, working in the Texas Capitol, consulting on and managing political campaigns, and mounting 2 unsuccessful campaigns of his own. John and Tracy, his wife of 30 years, reside in Sweetwater, Texas. They have two grown children- their son, a lawyer and their daughter, a nurse, both practice in the Dallas area.
