Blue Peace offers ocean memorials for those who wish to leave ashes of their loved one in the eternal beauty of Earth's primordial sea. Our chartered vessel will sail to Portuguese Bend Marine Reserve off of Palos Verdes Point, CA. A chaplain captain will offer final words in a short ceremony for the deceased, and inter the ashes near the oceanic coordinates of 33.7N and 118.3W. Flowers can accompany the interment of ashes, if so desired. Portuguese Bend Nature Reserve overlooks Portuguese Bend Marine Reserve and is publicly accessible for families and friends to visit, pray, and remember the life of a loved whenever the need arises. This site offers a beautiful view of the near coastal waters and Catalina Island throughout most of the year.

Scheduling is subject to weather and sea conditions, with the best time being a dawn or evening with calm waters and a light breeze. Fees for this memorial service are determined by the family and friends of the deceased. The average round trip time to complete this memorial service is 3-4 hours, and the suggested starting fee is $395. This will include the EPA approved burial permit for an ocean interment. There is no carbon fee associated with sailing. Remember the interment of ashes at sea eliminates cemetery fees by utilizing a wilderness that will not be affected by development or sea-level rise. A letter of completion will be mailed following the ceremonial marine interment of ashes, which can usually take place within 60 days.
