Often, when I first speak to a couple whose families are from different religious or cultural backgrounds, they are very concerned with creating a ceremony that honors both of their families’ heritage and traditions without offending or excluding their partner, family, or guests. In reality the whole ceremony is over in a flash.

For example, in today’s world, you can do with out “the kiss” or “the vows” if you really want to.

I, for one, tend to be a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to hitting all the important parts listed above. But the form they take can be completely unique and personal to you.

So, for example, if you want to do a “high-five” or “fist bump” instead of a kiss, that’s cool with me.

Most non-religious weddings, by definition, are unconventional. So no need to make the ceremony script conventional. It is your wedding, your day, we can make it whatever you want.
