Samuel T. Lyon
Ordained Minister in Raceland, Kentucky
About Me:
“1. God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars. 2. To be a Christian without prayer is no more possible than to be alive without breathing. 3. Anyone who is to find Christ must first find the church. How could anyone know where Christ is and what faith is in him unless he knew where his believers are?”
The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther (1483-1546) – Germany Welcome to what will be some of the most interesting reading of your life! I began this introduction with three of my favorite quotes from The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther. Dr. Luther is close to my heart as he and I share some of the same passions such as scripture, the need to debate, and the quest to gain understanding. He was an ardent believer in searching the Word of God to find truth. Not truth as it is presented to us solely by denominational leaders, councils, or from preachers. But truth as it is revealed to us by the Holy Spirit.
The what I will share with you on this website will show you just what kind of a journey God has taken me on. Like Dr. Luther my journey began in prayer. Prayer for understanding that God would reveal His truth to me through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit and through His Word. Secondly, this journey led me to examine my own beliefs and what I was taught in Sunday school, worship services, and conferences. Was everything I was taught correct? In short, no. So like the first quote above I had to see that the Gospel of Christ wasn’t limited to just one denomination or Christian sect (Pentecostalism). The Gospel is EVERYWHERE! So the Lord led me out of my Church of God boxed in mentality and on a journey to find these other believers. I realized His church is catholic. No, not Roman Catholic. Catholic. That word simply means “universal”. Meaning we are all catholic! We’re all part of the Body/Bride of Christ! Praise God.
Lastly, this journey wasn’t easy. No journey is. There are always pitfalls and roadblocks. Flat tires and exhaustion. But if your map is accurate and you stay on the correct route. The destination is always worth the effort!
So there you have it. My journey in a brief introduction. If you are visiting this website I once again want to say, welcome! If you disagree with what is written, wonderful. That’s what godly discussion is for. Look for more detailed posts in the near future. Don’t expect constant theological debates/discussions. This website is all about encouragement.
I’ll leave you with the wisdom of the Apostle Paul and some of my favorite scripture passages:
“For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.”
1 Corinthians 2:2-5 (NKJV) – Apostle Paul of Tarsus Go in peace to love and serve the Lord!
