Bishop Howard Slayton
Ordained Minister in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas
Why did you originally become an ordained minister online?
I always knew that I had this call to the ministry at the age of 8. After highschool was over, I had been thinking about getting an ordination but I wasn't sure how to do it. One night I was up late reading one of my Mom's National Enquirer and looking through the ads in the back. The ad read Become Ordained, Free for Life. I wrote to the address in the back and received some information and an ordination certificate dated August 11, 1999. So I began to study and teach myself about the ministry through seminary extension courses and Bible study programs. Hey, I accomplished my goals. I also read through the entire Bible.
Where are you from?
I grew up at Doniphan, Missouri. I spent a lot of time in prayer out on the Current River. I would go out there for peace and quiet so I could study my seminary lessons. I've lived in a lot of places. Wherever you hang your hat is home.
What do you hope to achieve with your online ordination?
What I wish to achieve with my mail order ordination, is to be good priest that everyone can count on. I am available for the seven sacraments, hospital visitation and prayer requests as needed. I serve God by serving the people. I hope to have a backyard chapel someday.

What do you think makes your ceremonies special as a Walnut Ridge, AR wedding officiant?
I stand before the people as the minister of God in Christ. I serve my little families with genuine sincerity and a desire to see them become one with their significant other. Weddings make me happy and I love the pictures too. Jesus served the guests at the wedding feast in Cana of Galilee by making the water into wine. I think Jesus loved a good party!
